This is a change of events.
The man is riding his bicycle. Calm day, nice weather, lack of describing words. But he gets mad. Some driver starts reeling on him to hurry up and peddle faster. This driver is aggressive, anxious and just plain annoyed.
The night before the driver had a fight with her son. It was a small one, but it lasted til the morning. Something about not locking the door, not doing the dishes and not sending out emails. Things that don't really matter and the fight lasted most of the night. She woke up mad, angry, still feuding while she drove her son to school. They didn't talk in the car but when they did, she blinked when she looked at him and said "fuck you". She drove past the school and another driver cut her off. She was pissed. She also hasn't been laid in a year and a half, since the divorce. The angst was building. Road rage.
The cyclist was a well known man in the neighborhood. He went to community church, bought organic vegetables and never over ate. He had two kids, a boy and a girl and both would be looking into attending classes at a university near their house. Living at home and studying. He would bike the same route everyday, help him get rid of the cholesterol that was building as he aged. He still ate eggs though. So, just like any other day, he woke up early and went for his ride.
He was in the bike lane as she began to honk her horn. She rolled down the window and began swearing at him, cursing, peeved. She began accelerating then slowing down and accelerating and etc. He wouldn't budge and the tension was building.
So, she passed him. But he got mad now. His bike transformed, big wheels like a truck, big lights, big axel, big man. He was working on this for years. It was a bike all terrain vehicle. And he started tailgating.
He bumped her bumper and her coffee fell into her dress. She slammed on the brakes and he smashed into her. Her car veered off the road and into a tree, exploding. She climbed out of the car, safe, but the wreckage was a write off.
She looked for the cyclist but he was long gone, his bike back to normal. He never rode his bicycle ever again. This time, the cyclist won the road.
And for her, she never had a fight again with her son. She bought him a Fiat and she would drive it too. Calm, serene, normal. And she finally got laid too.
Maybe a change of events, is really all one needs. Don't you agree?
