cat nip cowboy

I'm just a cat nip cowboy
running my fingers through my hair
a steed, a man whose been bred like this
the jockey, it weighs on me, less thread more demand

are you getting your feed of hay and milk?
from the teat of a cow or a bean outta town?
take a taste test in your tea and tell me what this means
flying through the rodeo, with a clown and a cowboy hat

this place is a ranch, hell, a good place to be
i wonder who made it, some writer no doubt
but this writer only looks upon the ones in vain to himself
caverns and mischief and waterfalls to play in

back to square one on the drawing board for more
a whisper ever ensues by the lady on the patio
she wants to ride with a cowboy and he tells her fifty bucks
so she hands him the money, mostly change and mighty ducks

he takes her to his steed, the horse four-times her size
"now whatcha gotta do here, is, if it hurts let go"
"wear this glove for now, so you don't break your thumb"
she's on the horse and the saddle is new

she rides the horse for a mile, a smile through and through
"i never been on a horse before." she smiles
the corn bred cowboy cat nip command
smiles with his white teeth, something drawn in the sand

oh glory days, for that cowboy man
he used to be the king of the rodeo
with all his boys at his side,
the clown, the raven, the man and the cowl

he brings back the lady to her patio stool
her daughter is waiting, and boy, ever is she cute
the cowboy introduces himself as Ned
and she draws her hand to his, no ring, notices Ned

my name is Annabelle, wanna be my friend dear?
I'd love to good girl but you know what i just can't
I've been travelling back to the highway to finish off
and wait for the dead, the circus I mean

"come with me Ned, and we'll be happy together
I've got a ranch, a place you can stay and practice your craft"
"why sure Annybelle, I'm yours for the keepin'"
Annabelle looks back, "see ya mom, I'm off, better start preachin'"
